Jewelry eCommerce News – August 2026

Jewelry eCommerce News August 2026 cover featuring a diamond ring, AI, product data, and global multichannel commerce.

Dear Jeweler

Before we dive into the sales season, let’s take a quick look at what happened in August and adjust our strategies accordingly.

AI shopping is quickly moving from an experiment to a measurable sales channel.

At the same time, jewelry businesses are facing new disclosure rules, changing consumer expectations, marketplace growth, and a stronger push toward branded international eCommerce.

Here are six developments worth paying attention to.

Jewelry eCommerce News August 2026 📰

AI traffic becomes a serious sales channel for jewelry

Lab-grown jewelry retailer Draco Diamond says its answer engine optimization work increased AI-generated traffic 31 times in three months.

ChatGPT now provides 84% of its AI referrals. These visitors add products to cart five times more often than Google Ads visitors and more than twice as often as the site average.

This is one of the clearest jewelry-specific examples so far. AI visibility is becoming a revenue channel, but only when product and editorial content are structured well enough for AI engines to understand.

Walmart Marketplace grows 52%

Walmart Marketplace sales increased 52% year over year, while Walmart’s US eCommerce sales grew 24%.

Usage of its Sparky AI shopping assistant increased 70%, and customers using Sparky spent 40% more per order. Walmart also expanded delivery in under 30 minutes to 38 US markets.

Marketplace growth, AI-assisted discovery, accurate inventory, and delivery speed are becoming one connected commercial system. A product must be understandable, available, correctly priced, and ready to ship at the same time.

Jewelry outperforms other luxury categories

Jewelry continues to perform strongly at the largest luxury groups.

LVMH’s watches and jewelry category grew 11%. Kering’s jewelry division grew 18%, while Richemont’s jewelry brands advanced 24%, their seventh consecutive quarter of double-digit growth.

However, Pandora’s comparable US sales were flat. The market is not simply “good for jewelry.” Demand appears strongest around premium, differentiated, and emotionally meaningful products.

India targets $100 billion in jewelry exports

India has introduced a strategy to increase annual gem and jewelry exports from approximately $28 billion to $100 billion by 2040.

The plan emphasizes branded, design-led finished jewelry, international market access, AI, 3D printing, and support for smaller manufacturers.

The important shift is from manufacturing volume toward brands and higher-value products. That will require much more than production capacity. Manufacturers will need structured product information, digital catalogs, international pricing, marketplace connectivity, and scalable multichannel operations.

AGTA changes the terminology for lab-grown gemstones

The American Gem Trade Association now requires its members to describe manufactured gemstones as “synthetic.” The term “lab-grown” cannot be used alone.

This may look like a wording update, but operationally it is a product-data issue.

Gemstone terminology, treatments, disclosures, and care instructions need to remain consistent across websites, catalogs, marketplaces, certificates, and sales materials. Managing this independently on every channel is how costly inconsistencies appear.

Resale value influences new luxury purchases

According to The RealReal, the secondary luxury market is growing three times faster than the primary market. Almost half of consumers now research potential resale value before buying a new luxury product.

Vintage demand has increased 432% since 2020, while searches for Art Deco pieces rose 71% year over year.

For jewelry brands, provenance, condition, era, authenticity, and valuation are no longer relevant only to resale platforms. This information is increasingly part of the original product story and purchasing decision.

The direction is quite clear: jewelry eCommerce is moving toward AI-assisted discovery, stronger data governance, faster fulfillment, and more sophisticated international selling.

The technology is available. Structured execution remains the harder part.
