Walmart’s logistics hub, WMS (Walmart Fulfillment Services), recently launched Multichannel Solutions (MCS). Similar to FBA by Amazon, MCS allows sellers to ship orders not only for Walmart.com but also for sales made on other platforms like Etsy, eBay, Shopify, or Temu.
This is a great news for jewelry sellers, especially those working across multiple marketplaces. It simplifies logistics by consolidating fulfillment in one location. It also provides a solid alternative to the leading FBA solution, hopefully improving Amazon’s offering.
Walmart is actively promoting the service, and currently offers a 30% discount on fulfillment fees.
How does MCF support jewelry eCommerce:
-
Centralized inventory for multichannel sales
Sellers can now keep their products in Walmart fulfillment centers and use that inventory to fulfill orders from other platforms. -
Unbranded packaging
Orders fulfilled through MCS are shipped in packaging without Walmart branding. This can be useful for jewelers who want to maintain a consistent customer experience across different channels. -
Shipping service availability beyond Walmart.com
MCS includes access to Walmart’s 2-day delivery network for non-Walmart orders, depending on eligibility and location.
Use cases for jewelry businesses:
- Compare the WMS and FBA offerings for your multichannel fulfillment. From a logistics point of view, Walmart is a company you can trust.
-
Minimize the investment in physical inventory by using one fulfillment solution instead of maintaining separate shipping processes per platform.
-
Access a larger logistics network without investing in your own warehousing or staffing. Especially important for small D2C jewelry brands that operate with smaller teams and budgets.
-
Use unbranded packaging to keep the customer experience consistent and channel-agnostic.
- “A must” for fashion jewelry sellers. The fashion jewelry category, and lower ticket jewelry, is heavily impacted by the quality of logistics. In some cases, the proper logistics increases the chances of selling up to 5 times!
This service is now available in the U.S., with sign-up through the Walmart Marketplace Seller Center.
As in many other moves, Walmart effectively takes the best of Amazon‘s experience and implements it on a colossal scale. We keep following the the company’s moves and are glad to see it creating healthy competition between the eCommerce giants!
